Behond, I exist

1 min read
So, I have had a very long hiatus from DA. I'm not sure exactly the reason, but between coming back from Iraq a year and a half ago and various other RL stuff, DA got lost. I hope I will be able to bring myself back to it because I always enjoyed it here. I have no idea what brought me back to this site today, but I hope it can do me some good. I have been in the strangest of moods this past year, a mixture of depression and apathy which causes stagnation. I don't know why. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel though. Around mid-February, I will be out of the Army. This is looking like it will be a clean slate for me. I can go back to school and meet new people in a new environment. I will stop rambling now and spare you all from my twisted logic.

I leave you with a merry Christmas one day late.

Tim

Headed home

I've been in Iraq for 10 months now and they've decided to send me home. I most likely be without internet till I get back, so I will be inactive for a week or two. Needless to say, I am very excited to go home finally. My father and one of my sisters are meeting me at the airfield when I land. I will finally get some good food and a few days off.

On a completely different note, I joined TraviisArmy. This group is different than most that I've seen. Its goal it to donate to charities. They are currently taking suggestions for a charity to give to. I suggested Operation Smile, a group that performs surgeries to correct cleft lip/cleft palette is third world countries. A few other have suggested some great ideas ranging from autism to cancer to the World Wildlife Federation. One that I liked was a group that gives art resources to kids.

Please pay a visit to the group. There is no requirement to give. You can support us is many other ways and anything you can do will be greatly appreciated. Right now we need help spreading the word.

If you have questions, ask me or leave a note or comment with TraviisArmy.

Back to work.

I just got back to work after 15 days of leave at home. The place didn't fall apart without me, which is always good. They even fix something that I broke a month or so ago. A piece of advice, don't plug a 110 V computer into 220 V. Bad things happen.

Leave was a lot of fun. I turned 21 before I went so I got to drink legally. I only got drunk a couple times. Most of the time was spent hanging out with family and Slayer-of-Blood. We went to Phoenix, AZ for a day and visited RavynCrescent. She's a really cool person. She took us to a place called Organ Stop Pizza. It had pretty good pizza, but the great thing was the music. There is one guy playing an organ and controlling a bunch of other random instruments and lights around the room. I have ADHD. It was awesome. Then we played laser tag. I think I was a little too motivated.

Phoenix is a nice city. The surrounding area is beautiful(will post pictures shortly). The ride back was amazing too. So many spots on the road with amazing views. I have pictures of that too.

It all went by way too fast. I was constantly dreading the moment when I had to say "good-bye." It was only really hard with one person, you know who you are. I will see you around Christmas.

My leave did not go exactly as I planned it, but I wouldn't trade the time for anything. There are times when I wish I didn't join the Army, but I think its the best thing I could have done. Its a great stepping stone. I just miss home.

I really don't. Just army computers. I am currently the network admin of the tiny COP(Combat Outpost) that I am on. I knew nothing about networking before I got here. I have been learning it as I go. Whenever we have a problem I haven't seen before I have to call three or four people to figure it out. I wish I had been trained on at least some of this beforehand. Ah well. I do my best.

I am also the COP camera guy. I have to take pictures of anything remotely interesting that happens. Apparently I'm good with a camera. Who knew?
